Rumors of War

PACIFIC NW, USA - In the world of global politics, George W. Bush is up to some seriously dangerous monkey business. We oppose George W. Bush's proposed war on Iraq, on the grounds that there is no war but class war. Any such invasion would be immoral, illegal, and would cause untold suffering to people already devastated by more than a decade of brutal sanctions which have been directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of children.
Not only that, but it would galvanize the Muslim world in opposition to the United States, validating Osama bin Laden's claims of a Western crusade against Islam. It would also potentially spark a large regional war involving Israel and set a dangerous precedent of unilateral foreign policy. Whatever small hope may be left for peace between the Israelis and Palestinians would be utterly destroyed. Terrorism would increase at home and abroad. U.S. citizens would be seen as fair targets where ever they roam.
And if Sadam Hussein indeed has weapons of mass destruction, he would most likely use them if his country were invaded.
George W. Bush calls Sadam Hussein the "greatest threat to peace." Sorry, Mr. Bush, but the greatest threat to peace is war.
If you haven't done so already, please call the White House at 202-456-1111 and politely inform the underpaid and overworked phone operator of your opposition. You may also wish to send email to the president and the vice president.
Though congress has already abdicated its constitutional role of declaring war to the monkey-in-chief, you can still register your disgust (or, in rare cases, pleasure) with how your representatives and senators voted. Go to the Senate and House Web sites to find and email your elected representatives.
